I am getting excited about the upcoming General Deer Rifle Season here in Oregon. Going to be hunting a big blacktail buck in Western Oregon.

I went out and shot my Ruger M77 Mk II .243 on Saturday. Was able to put five bullets in a 2 - 2 1/2 inch group just above the bullseye at 100 yards.

That should do the trick! Season starts October 1st. Looks like the weather might be turning just in time.

Anybody else getting buck fever?

I just know you are going to kill yourself a nice buck over there in Fort Rock! Good luck my friend. P.S. I don't want any more poison oak. : (

I'm definitely getting there. I will be hunting with friend in the Fort Rock Unit in Central Oregon. It will be my first time in the unit and I will not be able to go scout out the area before hand. I have gotten some pointers from some friends on where to try though. I'm excited to learn some new ground and hopefully find some mule deer with antlers. Gonna go shoot the 30-06 and the .243 next weekend to make sure they are dialed in. I must say I am excited for this hunt, but will also miss the blackberries and poison oak here in the valley:)
